Manufacturing Futures
Project Overview
Manufacturing Futures is an initiative connecting students, schools, and industry to advance skills in manufacturing. The project goal was to create a fully dynamic and modern website that presents programs, resources, and industry connections effectively.
Scope of Work
I developed the website entirely from scratch using WordPress with Sage (Blade templates), Bootstrap for layout and styling, and ACF to manage dynamic content. The work included creating reusable components, building dynamic content fields, implementing interactive features, and ensuring responsiveness across devices.
Challenges & Solutions
The main challenges were:
Creating a dynamic interactive map where data points could be filtered by region, facility, and skill areas.
Developing a resources page displaying numerous items filterable by media type.
Solutions involved building custom PHP functions in Sage for data management, leveraging ACF for structured content, and using JavaScript and Bootstrap to implement dynamic filtering and interactive UI for both map and resources page.
Results
The website provides a modern, interactive experience with filterable maps and resources. It allows users to explore programs and industry connections efficiently while giving the client a scalable and maintainable platform.
